Annie Miles 1953 - 2014

Annie Miles, diagnosed with cancer, died peacefully in her sleep and surrounded by her family, on Thursday 16th October. Annie had an absolutely brilliant mind. She was an astute businesswoman, someone who cared for her family, really good fun to be around and was loved by all who knew her. She was the most loyal of friends and gave so much of herself to anyone and everyone who needed her help and advice. She began a successful career in Advertising in 1975 when she joined the Leo Burnett agency in London. She gained marketing experience via a spell with Colgate-Palmolive and then returned to advertising, spending time at Dorland Advertising, Geers Gross plc and ending at FCB London as Deputy Managing Director. In 1991 came a career shift into television management and production, initially as General Manager of The Children's Channel (a satellite TV station) and then as CEO of Cosgrove Hall Films, the animation studio of "Dangermouse" and "Count Duckula" fame in Manchester. Annie became Director of Animation for Granada Productions (ITV plc) in 1997, where she was the Executive Producer of the "Tom & Vicky" animation series for CITV, before moving to head up Fox Kids UK as Managing Director. Annie joined Talent Group plc in 2003 as Executive Director, Talent Kids and was Executive Producer on hit show "Best of Friends" for CBBC and breakthrough live-action/animation game show "Skatoony" for Cartoon Network. Most recently Annie was an independent Executive Producer and consultant working with twofour54 Abu Dhabi on "Driver Dan's Story Train" a Top Ten show for CBeebies. Annie was a Lifetime Fellow of the IPA, a member of the Royal Television Society and BAFTA, an influential member of WACL (established in 1923 this is a unique and very special club for the most senior and influential women in the UK Communications Industry) , Chair of Governors at Alderbrook Primary School in Balham, a season ticket holder at Chelsea FC and enjoyed spending time in her second home in southern Spain. She will be missed by so many people from so many walks of life.
